Tesla’s January 2025 call put Austin at the center of its launch plan
Selecting a first city concentrates the operational work.

On its January 29, 2025 earnings call, Tesla targeted June for an unsupervised ride-hailing service in Austin.
Collective perspective
Selecting a first city concentrates the operational work. A launch requires more than cars: passenger support, charging, cleaning, incident response and a workable service area all have to come together. A geographically focused pilot can make those dependencies easier to study.
For Cybercab Collective, Austin’s place in the timeline makes it a natural research market. It does not give this project access to Tesla’s service or imply a right to deploy vehicles there. We would use a first-market plan to structure diligence, while keeping announced timing distinct from actual service conditions and commercial availability.
