Cybercab’s simpler design raised a practical question: easier to maintain?
A lower parts count could reduce some sources of complexity.

In December 2024, reporting quoted a Tesla engineer describing Cybercab as having roughly half as many parts as Model 3, with attention to cleaning and simplicity.
Collective perspective
A lower parts count could reduce some sources of complexity. It does not reveal which parts fail, how quickly replacements arrive or how much labor a repair requires. For a revenue-generating vehicle, the cost of an unavailable day can matter alongside the workshop invoice.
The collective perspective is to ask for a service model, not just a component count. Cleaning procedures, inspection intervals, repair access and spare-vehicle arrangements would help translate design simplicity into an operating plan. Engineering claims are encouraging when they lead to measurable availability; until then, they remain inputs to investigate.
