Waymo Adds Three Cities. Tampa Gives Fleet Planners Another Service to Compare

Waymo announced on September 1 that it was beginning fully autonomous trips for its first public riders in Denver, San Diego and Tampa. The company said the additions brought its passenger-service footprint to 14 cities.

Access is being introduced gradually. People who have registered interest are being invited to ride, with broader availability planned as the rollout develops. The announcement should not be read as immediate access for everyone or coverage of every destination in each metropolitan area.

Waymo says it prepared through local driving validation, work with first responders and engagement with community groups. These steps describe the operating preparation behind a city launch, alongside the vehicles and passenger app.

Collective perspective

Tampa is particularly relevant to our market research because Tesla has also announced robotaxi operations there. For a proposed managed fleet, that creates a reason to compare what riders can actually book: useful routes, service hours, vehicle fit and the experience between pickup and arrival.
