Cybercab’s efficiency target highlighted energy cost per mile
Energy efficiency matters most when it is evaluated alongside the miles needed to complete a paid trip.

Tesla’s Q3 2024 update described a Cybercab efficiency target of 5.5 miles per kilowatt-hour. It was a company estimate, not independently measured fleet performance.
Collective perspective
Energy efficiency matters most when it is evaluated alongside the miles needed to complete a paid trip. Driving to a pickup, repositioning and returning to a charging location can consume energy without generating the same revenue as passenger miles.
Our approach would therefore model both consumption and productive use. A fleet with impressive vehicle efficiency can still perform poorly if it spends too much time traveling empty. The target is a useful sensitivity input, but measured operations would be needed before presenting it as a reliable basis for owner economics.
