Austin’s December tests moved beyond an in-car safety monitor

Collective perspective
Removing a person from the cabin changes the operating arrangement, but it does not demonstrate that every human support task has disappeared. Passenger assistance, vehicle recovery, cleaning and maintenance still need an accountable process.
The collective perspective is to look at the whole support system rather than one seat in the vehicle. A fleet model would need the cost and availability of remote assistance and on-site response, as applicable. A test milestone is valuable evidence of progress, but the conditions and scale of the testing should remain visible.
