On April 5, 2024, Elon Musk announced an August 8 robotaxi reveal. The date referred to a presentation, not the start of a passenger service.

Reveals can make a technology tangible, but they are early evidence for a fleet operator. The useful output is a clearer set of questions about the vehicle, operating system and commercial relationship. A stage presentation should not be substituted for a delivery schedule.
Our perspective is to treat reveal dates as research checkpoints. They can inform which assumptions need updating and which suppliers or permissions deserve closer attention. They do not justify collecting investment commitments around a timetable that has not become an operating agreement.
