Austin’s introductory fare was a launch signal, not a fleet revenue forecast
A launch price tells a reader what an early passenger was charged under particular conditions.

Collective perspective
A launch price tells a reader what an early passenger was charged under particular conditions. It does not show the mature fare structure, trip mix, platform allocation or total cost of providing that ride.
The collective’s calculator should therefore distinguish a passenger fare from revenue retained by a vehicle-owning business. Promotional pricing may help introduce a service while revealing little about sustainable margins. Before using fare data in a fleet model, we would need to know its duration, geographic scope, fees and relationship to actual trip length. One memorable number cannot carry an investment case.
